Camera frames stay on your Mac
Webcam Pro uses the physical camera you select to produce an adjusted virtual-camera stream. Camera frames are processed locally on your Mac. The app does not record camera footage, upload frames or use cloud processing.
When you select Webcam Pro in another app, that app receives the processed camera stream. Your calling app, browser or meeting provider handles any transmission, recording or storage under its own settings and privacy policy.
Optional face smoothing
When enabled, smoothing uses temporary face detection and facial landmarks to locate and soften the largest detected face in the frame. These calculations take place on your Mac and are not used to identify you, recognise your identity or create a face profile.
Webcam Pro does not save or send face images or facial landmarks. You can turn smoothing off in the app’s controls.
Settings & local diagnostics
Webcam Pro saves preferences and per-camera adjustments locally in shared app-group storage so the app and its camera extension can use the same settings. These settings are not sent to Daniel Graetzer.
Processing metrics used for diagnostics remain local. The app has no analytics or advertising trackers, no user accounts and no network connections. It does not send usage reports to us.
Permissions & camera activity
macOS asks you to grant camera access and approve the camera extension. You can manage those permissions in System Settings.
The preview is off by default. Virtual-camera processing starts when a client app requests the stream and stops after the final client releases it. Some calling apps continue requesting frames after video is turned off in their interface. Turn off the preview and close or switch the camera in those apps to stop camera use.
This website & the App Store
Visiting this website is separate from using the app. The website’s hosting infrastructure may process normal request information, such as your IP address, requested page, request time and browser user-agent, to serve and secure the site. The app’s local-processing promises do not mean that a website visit sends no information to a server.
When Webcam Pro becomes available through the App Store, Apple will handle the purchase and any associated account or payment information under Apple’s privacy terms. The app is currently preparing for release.
